Association Unveils Programs for Upcoming Year

New Tailgate Pricing Set


Alumni looking to stay connected with the university will enjoy a few new offerings along with some traditional fare in the 2009-10 academic year. "It is important that we continue the traditions alumni have come to expect, such as homecoming and tailgates, while creating new programs that invite even more alumni to engage with the university," said Jeff Knight, president of the UNLV Alumni Association board of directors.

Among the expanded offerings are lifetime member appreciation and young alumni events the association plans to host with the help of external funding, Knight said.

Tailgates, an alumni mainstay, are planned for home football games and select basketball games. To help offset rising costs, the alumni board adopted new pricing for the pregame events. Association members and non-members alike will be asked to pay a nominal admission fee, which will cover food and beverage costs.

Save the Date: Homecoming 2009

Mark your calendars for Oct. 12-17 for Homecoming 2009. Come reminisce and make new memories during the weeklong celebration of UNLV Superheroes. Highlights include:

Oct. 12

  • Alumni Golf Tournament, Bear’s Best Las Vegas, 11:30 a.m. registration, 1 p.m. shotgun start

Oct. 16

  • Rebel Red Day, campus and community
  • Silent Auction, Reception and Dinner, Student Union, 6 p.m.

Oct. 17

  • Alumni and Family Weekend Tailgates, Sam Boyd Stadium, 4 p.m.
  • Parade, Sam Boyd Stadium, 5 p.m.
  • Football Game: UNLV vs. Utah, Sam Boyd Stadium, 7 p.m.
