Student Alumni Association

The moment you enrolled at UNLV you became part of an elite community as an "Alumni in Training." Each course you take here, each experience you have, strengthens your reference point as a member of our academic and social environment — one is supported by a network that is more than 64,000 graduates strong. There are some unique opportunities for you to take advantage of, and involvement in the UNLV Student Alumni Association (SAA) is one of the most strategic ways for you to start building a bridge from campus life to the professional world.

Overview
Founded in 1991, SAA exists to help students get involved in their university in a meaningful way. It provides a link to traditions by combining opportunities for socialization, involvement in special events (more information below), and leadership development through a specialized curriculum for organization officers. Perhaps most importantly, SAA puts you in direct contact with influential and connected UNLV graduates who provide pointers on how to apply what you are learning in the classroom to the demanding needs of your future employers.

The SAA is open to all students at all levels, and there are no enrollment requirements to meet. In addition to a variety of beneficial programs and events, the SAA functions as a bridge to the UNLV Alumni Association, an organization that represents the interests of more than 64,000 UNLV graduates.

Some key SAA events you may want to support include:

  • Dinner With A Rebel - Receive educational and career advice from UNLV Alumni.

  • Halloween Party - Brighten the life of a child with cancer with a spooky, but fun, event benefiting Candlelighters of Nevada.

  • Homecoming - Take an active role in organizing and staging events that unite students, alums, and parents and continue important UNLV traditions.

Benefits
Some direct advantages of membership include:

  • Local discounts (negotiated through the UNLV Alumni Association - SAA's parent organization)
  • Networking opportunities with connected professionals
  • Career-placement assistance and, after graduation, web resume services
  • Access to affinity partners such as E-Grad, which offers a highly competitive student loan consolidation program, and special discounts for insurance through Marsh Affinity
